The Cambridge Reader desktop app allows you to use your Cambridge Reader content offline.
Minimum system requirements
To install the app you'll need:
- Microsoft Windows 7 or 10, 64-bit processor versions
or
- Mac 10.12 Sierra and above
Once you've downloaded the app, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
How to download and install the Cambridge Reader desktop app
You need to have Admin permissions on your computer to install the Cambridge Reader. You may need to speak to your IT department to get these permissions.
- Visit our apps download page.
- Select tablet or desktop, and Android/iOS or Mac/PC.
- Click on the download links.
- After the file has download, open it as an Admin or contact your IT department to help with installation.
- You may see a message checking you want to run the installation. Click on ‘More info’.
- The name of the application will appear, click ‘Run anyway’. If you have any doubts, please contact your IT department.
- The application installer will then open.
- Read through and accept the Terms and Conditions of Use.
- Confirm the location for the application to be saved, or browse for a new location. You can also see the space required for the installation.
- Select if you would like to have a shortcut created on your desktop.
- Check the location is okay, and then click ‘Install’.
- The installation will then run.
- Once the application has installed, click ‘Finish’.
- You can then log into the Cambridge Reader to access your titles.
Please note that if you have not logged into Cambridge Go you need to do so before you will be able to log into Cambridge Reader.
Why can't I download the Cambridge Reader desktop app?
To install the Cambridge Reader desktop app you may need administrator access, depending on how your device has been set up you may or may not have these. If the installation is being blocked, contact your institution's IT department as they should be able to help you.
The Cambridge Reader cannot be installed across a network, each computer needs to install the application individually.

Why is my download being blocked?
Your institution may not have added Cambridge University Press to their safe list of software providers and may block the download. If this happens, contact your institution's IT department as they should be able to help you.
Why can't I log into the Cambridge Reader?
You need to log into the online ereader before you can access your account on the Cambridge Reader desktop app. This is because you need to accept our Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (EULA). If you have not logged into the online ereader you will see the message below.
How do I find out if I have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?
We currently only offer a 64-bit version of Cambridge Reader. If you require a 32-bit version please let our Customer Services team know. If we get lots of queries about this then we may develop this version in the future.
How to find out which version of Windows you have:
Windows 7: Click Start, then click Control Panel. Click System and Maintenance and then click System.
Windows 10: Click Start, then click Settings followed by About.
How much space does the Cambridge Reader desktop app take up?
The application requires at least 188.3 MB of free space to install. However additional space is also required to download titles and additional media content such as videos.
The size can also be found during the installation process.
