Digital Student's Book Tools Guide
Using the digital Student's Book you can:
- Zoom in to content
- Make annotations
- Access additional digital-only content such as Explore the Story and language activities
Zoom in to content
You can zoom in on the screen by using the + zoom tool on the right-hand toolbar
You can zoom out by using the - zoom tool on the right-hand toolbar.
On your zoomed screens, you can move around using the pan tool.
You can also select a section of the page to zoom in on using the magnifying glass tool on the
right-hand toolbar.
You can use the horizontal arrows to fit the zoomed page to width and the vertical arrows to fit
the zoomed pages to height.
Make annotations
You can write on the screen using the pen tools in the bottom menu.
Access additional digital-only content such as Explore the Story and language activities
This product contains Explore the Story and language activities. Inside each Stage you will find:
- Interactive versions of the Latin stories
- Audio recordings of the Latin stories (To come. There will be audio for all stories.)
- Digital language activities.
Icons on each page can be used to launch your digital content:
Interactive content such as the Explore the Story feature or language activities
Alternatively, you can browse all content using the Media tab in the side menu.

Launching Explore the Story feature
Icons for the feature appear next to each story and can be used to launch the interactive stories.

How to use the Explore the Story feature
The Explore the Story feature, present in previous editions, has undergone enhancements with accessibility at the forefront. Improvements have been made to the navigation, sign-posting and overall usability to facilitate student engagement and support.
The interactive Latin stories allow you to:
- See translations for each Latin word
- Test your knowledge of words selected through mini quiz
- Listen to an audio recording of the story (To come. There will be audio for all stories.)
- See derivations for words
- Answer comprehension questions for some stories.
Translations
You can see in the bottom section of the screen an area with the selected Latin word and the English translation.
Derivations
You can select the Derive tab at the top of the screen which allows you to then click on a word and see translations and different derivations.
Test Vocabulary
Each word selected is added to a bank as questions. You can then take a quiz to test your knowledge of those vocabulary words. The test is non-reportable and practice-focused.
Think questions
You can select the Think tab at the top of the screen which allows you to answer comprehension-style questions about the story. The questions are non-reportable and practice-focused.

Vocabulary Questions Guide
Launching the Vocabulary activities
Icons for the activities appear next to the vocabulary checklist at the end of a Stage and can be
used to launch the activity.
Alternatively, you can browse and launch from the Media tab in the side menu.
How to use the Vocabulary multiple choice questions
The Vocabulary multiple choice questions (MCQs) are found at the end of each Stage.
Navigate the MCQs
In the activity, you can select one answer from the three options listed. Once an answer is selected, a Check answers button appears. Click this to get instant feedback on whether you have selected the correct or incorrect option.
The top navigation bar shows you how far through the activity you are.
You can navigate through the activity using the Next and Previous buttons.
You can see your score at the end of the activity by clicking on the Send Scores button.
An overall score is provided on a separate screen. You have the opportunity to review your answers. However, the score is not stored once the screen is closed.
There is no formal reporting for these activities. They focus on student practice.

How to navigate the Activities Guide
You can move between questions either by using the Next and Previous buttons at the bottom of the page or by selecting the question you wish to go to in the question tab bar at the top of the page.
To move between sets of 10 questions, select the arrows either side of the question tab bar.
Questions that have been viewed but not completed are shown with an empty circle in the questions tab bar. Questions that have been completed are shown as filled-in circles.
