Welcome to this short guide on how to use the Cambridge Latin Course Sixth Edition with Schoology.
To begin, here are four important things to know:
- Cambridge Latin Course is hosted on the Cambridge GO platform. Your district-level admin will have set up Cambridge GO as an app in Schoology. This document explains how to link to our Latin textbooks and assessments at the level of your course.
- Both you and your students will need to have activated codes for the Cambridge Latin Course. These will either be printed in a textbook (we recommend crossing through the code once it has been activated) or as an email sent from Cambridge.
- These instructions do not apply to Latin Fifth Edition (although this can also be used in Schoology).
- If you had a pre-existing GO account, for example, if you were using Cambridge Latin last year, you will no longer be able to log in directly.
Step One: Adding a link to Cambridge GO to your course
It is possible to link to GO as an External App in your course. This is recommended as it allows you to navigate the Latin product in our interface and see all components.
- Navigate to your Schoology course and click Materials.
- In the Add Materials dropdown, select Add File/Link/External Tool.
- Choose External Tool.
- In Add External Tool, use the following settings:
- Title: Cambridge GO
- URL (Type the URL before selecting Tool Provider) https://cola-api.cambridge.org/oidc/initiate?client_id=cambridgego&target_link_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cambridge.org%2Fgo%2Fresources%2F
- Tool provider: Cambridge GO
- Launch option: Open in new browser tab
- Do not check Enable Grading
- Click Submit
This link will appear on your course dashboard and can be clicked by teachers and students to be passed through to Cambridge GO.
Adding a link to Cambridge GO
First, click "Add Materials", then navigate to "Add File/Link/External Tool".
Select External Tool.
Enter URL (copy from the table above), Title, Tool Provider ‘Cambridge GO’, and ‘Open in new browser tab’.
The resulting link will take you directly to Cambridge GO.
The first time any user follows the link, we ask them to select a Country and to accept our Terms and Conditions of Use.
Step two: Activating the Latin textbooks
From the "Resources" page, click on ‘Add new resources’ and then ‘Activate resources with codes’.
Enter your 16-character access code, agree to the terms of use, and ‘Activate resource’.
A Latin tab for each unit will appear on your Resources screen in GO.
As a teacher you should see: Teacher’s Resource, Student’s Book, Student’s Book – Teacher Version, and Language Activities. Students will not see the teaching materials.
Step three (optional): Linking direct to a textbook page
You may wish to link to a specific page of your textbook.
- Click the Bookmark tab at the top of the page.
- Click Share.
- Copy the URL (at the moment this has the Canvas logo, but it will work in Schoology).
- Navigate to your Schoology course, and click Materials.
- In the Add Materials dropdown, select Add File/Link/External Tool.
- Choose External Tool.
- In Add External Tool, use the following settings:
- Title: Cambridge GO
- URL (Paste in the URL you copied before selecting Tool Provider)
- Tool provider: Cambridge GO

- Do not check Enable Grading
- Click Submit
This link will appear on your course dashboard and can be clicked by teachers and students to be passed through to Cambridge GO.
Click on the bookmark in the corner of the book page.
Click Share (you do not need to name or save the bookmark) and copy the link.
Select Share by Canvas (this will shortly change to Share by LMS).
Add as another External Tool in your Schoology course.
Step four (optional): Sharing a graded assessment
Detailed information about our Language Activities can be viewed online in our Support Centre.
- On your Cambridge GO Resources dashboard, click on Language Activities.

- Title: Cambridge GO
- Paste in the URL that you copied from our Language Activities (before selecting Tool Provider)
- Tool provider: Cambridge GO

- Check Enable Grading
- The remaining settings are down to your preference, but note that you must select Numeric Scale, and must indicate a Category.
- Click Save and Publish.
Select ‘Pass grades to LMS’. and then ‘Copy LMS link’.
Return to ‘Add External Tool’ in Schoology. Paste in your URL, and select ‘Cambridge GO’ as Tool Provider, ‘Open in new browser tab’, and ‘Enable grading’.
You must select a Category and ‘Numeric’ as Scale. Click Submit.
The activity will now appear as a link for students on their dashboard.
Note that only students will be able to follow the link, as teachers cannot complete activities. There is a preview mode in GO if you would like to take the tests for yourself.
