If you’re using a Huawei phone released after May 16, 2019, our Cambridge Reader app may show a “rooted or modified device” error.
This happens because Huawei devices released after that date no longer include Google Mobile Services (GMS) or Play Protect certification due to Huawei’s loss of Google licensing.
Our app relies on Google’s Play Protect to verify device integrity. Without it, some Huawei models are incorrectly flagged as rooted.
Affected Devices
Huawei phones released after May 2019, including:
- P40 / P40 Pro / P50 Pro
- Mate 30 / Mate 40 series
- Nova 8 / Nova 9
Older models like the P30 Pro, P20 Pro, or Mate 20 Pro (released before May 2019) are not affected.
